Why privacy matters in DNA testing

DNA testing involves some of the most personal information a person can share. Your genetic profile is unique to you and the results of a relationship test can have profound personal, legal and emotional consequences. At Kindra we take the responsibility of handling that information extremely seriously.

What data we collect

To process your test we collect the following information:

• Your name and contact details

• The names of all test participants

• The biological samples submitted for testing

• Your test results

We do not collect or store your full genetic profile. We analyse only the specific genetic markers required to answer your relationship question.

Who can see your results?

Only you. Your results are delivered via secure email to the address you provide at the time of ordering. We never share your results with any third party including family members, employers or government bodies unless you explicitly request it or we are legally required to do so.

How long is your data stored?

We retain your test records for a period of 12 months following your test date. After this period your data is permanently deleted from our systems unless you request otherwise in writing.

Biological sample disposal

All biological samples are destroyed within 30 days of your results being issued. We do not retain, sell or share your biological material under any circumstances.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data and request deletion of your data at any time. Contact our team to exercise any of these rights.
